About Jan Bobak and Bobak Violino:
Bobak Violino, based in Nowy Targ, Poland, is an internationally recognized workshop with over 25 years of tradition. Award-winning violinmaker, Jan Bobak, the founder of Bobak Violino, got his start in the 1980s and had the opportunity to work for the reputable William Harris Lee workshop in Chicago. While at the W. H. Lee shop, Bobak honed his skills under Tetsuo Matsuda and collaborated with highly regarded luthier such as William Whedbee, Gary Garavaglia and Bronek Cison. Bobak Violino is now run by Grzegorz Bobak, Jan’s son. Originally a sculptor, Grzegorz studied violinmaking at the Chicago School of Violinmaking and gained experience at the W. H. Lee shop.
