Andrea Bentoni, or Antoni Bentoni, was an Italian maker. Not much is known about his or her violins, apart from this violin’s documented counterpart, “The King.” The body of The Queen is made with Italian Maple and Swiss Pine with Spruce Pine for the soundpost. The vanish is pure linseed oil. The Queen is well loved; it has a very raw and punchy tone, with a lush lower register. We have copies of a letter and invoice for “The King” for those interested in viewing historical documents.
