"Henry James" by Mark Moreland - Battle Ground, WA, 2020
The “Henry James” line of instruments originates from the workshop of Mark Moreland Violins in Battle Ground, Washington. Originally an accomplished violinist and violin instructor, Mark Moreland turned his interests to violin making and repair in 1975. He was an apprentice of Paul Schuback for three years. He has worked for several prominent American violin shops, including the Schuback Violin Shop, Eastman Strings, Potter Violin Shop, and Robertson & Sons. He now owns his own shop in the Pacific Northwest and has received several awards in international violin making competitions. Moreland’s instruments are not only expertly and beautifully constructed, they also feature the maker’s signature antiquing finish and his own varnish based on a turn-of-the-century recipe from France.
