Christophe Landon - Paris
Christophe Landon - Paris
French luthier Christophe Landon first became interested in violin making when he was a teenager. He spent his summers at the Mirecourt School of Violin Making and eventually had the opportunity to apprentice in the workshops of Jean-Jacques Pages in Mirecourt, Max Möller in Amsterdam, and Stephane Tomachot in Paris. His innovative asymmetrical viola design earned him a Gold Medal at the 1983 “Louis Spohr” International Violin Making Competition in Kassel, Germany and First Prize at the 1986 Maurice Vieux Competition. He relocated to New York in 1984 and opened his own workshop in 1986. He now works as a luthier and dealer of fine instruments whose clients include members of the New York Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, and Guarneri String Quartet.
